Cabrillo Art

Welcome to art at Cabrillo!

Classes are offered for both 7th and 8th graders.

The 7th graders are part of an elective wheel. One-third of the year is spent in art, another third in health and the final third, in computers. Curriculum is based on the elements of art; line, shape, color, texture, form and space. Projects also include references to art history, famous artists and the art of various cultures. Ocassionally, a student will need to take a project home to catch up but there is no daily homework.

Eighth graders choose from general art or ceramics.  Each is a semester in length.

The general art curriculum is based on the elements of art,  line, shape, color, texture, form and space. Projects also include references to art history, famous artists and the art of various cultures.  There is no daily homework.

In ceramics class, students create projects using the pinch, coil and slab methods.  All supplies, including clay, tools, glazes and kiln firing, are available on-site.  Vocabulary and art from other cultures is included.  There is no daily homework.  During the final week, a cumulative test is given.
