Grades based Total Points Earned divided by Total Points Possible for each Quarter.
A+ = 98% or better  A = 93% - 97.9%  A - = 90% - 92.9%
B+ = 88% - 89.9% B = 83% - 87.9% B - = 80% - 82.9%
C+ = 78% - 79.9% C = 73% - 77.9% C - = 70% - 72.9%
D+ = 68 % - 69.9% D = 63% - 67.9% D - = 60% - 62.9%
 = 59.9% or less

Grades for Each Quarter

Grading for each quarter is taken from the total of points a student earns divided by the total possible points from a combination of in-class assignments & activities (such as presentations or group work), homework, quizzes, tests, long-term projects and any potential extra credit. Total Points from each quarter are not connected and separate from other quarter totals.

For example, if a student earns a total of 200 Points out of a total possible of 250 Points for the 2nd Quarter will not be added to the 3rd Quarter point values. The grade for the 2nd Quarter is calculated this way:

200 divided by 250 = 80% or - B grade.

Extra Credit

Possible extra credit assignments may be given each quarter.  Extra Credit may also be available for completing additional work beyond the required items of assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests.  The purpose of extra credit is intended for students to submit excellent work that is above and beyond what is required.  Extra Credit is not intended to replace required work.

The Maximum amount of Extra Credit at the end of each quarter will not improve a grade beyond a step for example:  For example, extra credit can only potentially improve a student's B- grade into a B grade...it is not possible to increase a B- grade into a B+ or A- or higher grade from extra credit alone.

Absences,Make-Up Work and Late Work Policy

Students who are absent due to illness, health appointments, family emergencies or other personal reasons will be given extensions for making up missing work.  Arrangements should be made with the teacher to determine an appropriate due date for missing work ahead of time or immediately upon return to school.  In some cases, modifications to the assignment may be available on an individual basis.  One possible reason for an assignment modification may involve students being absent for an extended period of time longer than 3 days.

Again, it's important to contact the teacher as soon as possible if your student is expected to miss one or more days of school or there is a unique concern about your student's situation so that arrangements can be made.

Late Work turned in a day or more after the due date will be penalized.  Lost points due to Late Work will vary based on the type of assignment how complete the Late Work is, the quality of the Late Work and how many days late.  Long-Term projects and presentations will usually be given a Grading Rubric that will explain the scoring specific to that assignment.

For all other work that is not a long-term project or presentation, there will be a penalty for late work based on the number of days late:

Days Late Penalty
1 Maximum grade is A- or 90% (based on completion and quality of work)
2 Maximum grade is A- or 90% (based on completion and quality of work)
3 Maximum grade is A- or 90% (based on completion and quality of work)
4 Maximum grade is A- or 90% (based on completion and quality of work)
